• App Review required by August 1, 2018 to retain access to Facebook Platform APIs
The Facebook App Review process and API permissions model have been updated. Learn more.
In order to maintain your current API access, your app will need to be submitted for review by August 1, 2018. If your app is not submitted for review, you will lose access to these permissions and features.
    user_friends
    user_link
    user_gender
    user_age_range
The Facebook Platform APIs have been updated with these changes. Please review the FAQ to ensure you request the correct permissions and features with your app review submission.
If access to the permissions and features is approved, the app may need to be associated to a verified business to complete App Review.

Is there is any lead to this approval process ?

  • I also have the same question (my auto publish is to a Facebook page).
The process Facebook requires doesn’t seem to match with what was set up originally.

Selecting the obvious option of ‘Publishes content to Facebook automatically’ give the message:’Apps won’t be approved for this use of publish_pages. To be approved, apps must follow our review criteria and the guidelines for using publish_pages’.

Furthermore it asks for detailed sets by step instructions for the Facebook review team and also a screencast to show what the app is doing (a walkthrough).

The loss of auto publish to Facebook will (for me and many others), make the Social Media Auto Publish plugin irrelevant so please provide us with assistance so that we can continue to use this great plugin.

    Thank you

As per new Facebook platform product changes and policy updates

Apps in public mode no longer allow their admins, developers, or testers to access permissions or features that normally require app review. This affects all apps built after May 1st, 2018, immediately. Apps built before then will not be affected until August 1st, 2018.

If you switch the app from live to development mode ,then it won’t show the invalid scope error and also posts will be auto published to Facebook, but the posts won’t be visible to others since the app is in development mode. These post will only appear when you make the app live.

Your app need to go through the review process for the scopes publish_pages,manage_pages and user_photos to work with the existing plugin code.
We did submitted several apps to Facebook for review . If Facebook approves them, we will create a guide and update our instructions.
Since submitting app for review is a complicated and time consuming task, we are working on alternative method.
Thank you for the feedback and support

    Hi @shameeryou,

We have got the same message for our apps, Can you please share more detail about what is the use of your APP? As in our case all the four parameters were not required so after login as a developer go to the app review and remove all below 4 parameters it’ll resolve the issue.

Or Even If you’re not using that functions and your app is not submitted for review no need to worry about you will lose access to these permissions and features only for the 4 things which is not required in either way.

So, In sort it depend up on use of your app and what you have developed. If it’s required then only you have to submit for the review.

Hope it clear your doubt, As we have removed on the same day of receiving email from FB and error is no longer there everything is running smoothly.

    Thanks,
    Group of Oceninfo

I just purchased the pro version and all of the things work except for facebook giving me this error:

Invalid Scopes: publish_pages, user_posts, manage_pages, user_managed_groups, user_photos, user_videos, user_events. This message is only shown to developers. Users of your app will ignore these permissions if present. Please read the documentation for valid permissions at: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-login/permissions

I emailed support and got this response:

“There is some issue with the latest version of the fb app version 3.0 and we are working for a solution. If you have an older version of fb app, please use it and try again.”

But from reading this looks like I am not the only one with problems. Is there a solution in the works?????

When can we expect a solotion for this?

Any news on this? August 1st is coming up pretty soon.

    Thanks.

Is there any update to this issue? The Facebook account we are connecting to has no pre-published apps, and why I try to submit for approval for publish_pages, and I select “Publishes content to Facebook automatically,” I get the information warning:

“Apps won’t be approved for this use of publish_pages. To be approved, apps must follow our review criteria and the guidelines for using publish_pages.”
