Facebook Blog Link Description has HTML

  • Hi, I am running my own hosted WordPress site. Whenever I post a blog post link in my status line in Facebook, it has some HTML that comes up in the description. For example, I post a blog post link on my Facebook page. The following description comes out:

    “GoodGirls Everywhere” is a group of Catholic young adult women based in Washington, D.C. What kind of events do they have and how do they give back to the community?     You can see that the <a href= etc. comes out in the description. Why is that? How can I turn if off? I am currently using the theme Brunelleschi 1.4.2. Thanks

  • My guess is use of common spam terms being blocked my Facebook’s link scanner. Maybe a site name ‘goodgirls’ is giving them issue.

    No, that can’t be it because it happens on every post I write, not just this one. Thanks for your input though.

    Maybe it is the theme because I used a different theme before and didn’t have this problem? The last theme I used just wouldn’t show a description, so that is why I switched.
