Hi, I have been getting notifications from Facebook regarding ‘Permissions or feature removed from Recent Posts app’, as follows:

    ————
As of September 4, 2019 Recent Posts (WordPress Plugin) will not have access to the following permissions or features:

    Page Public Content Access
    user_friends

If your app still needs access to these permissions or features, you’ll need to request them through the App Review process. If you don’t need access, no further action is required.
    ————

Currently I am just using the app to pull posts from my client’s FB timeline. Will the app still work correctly with the ‘Page Public Content Access’ and ‘user_friends’ features disabled/removed?

I have tried to provide info for the FB ‘app review’ and ‘business verification’ but not sure if I really have to do that.

I hope you can advise here!

    Thank you,
    RPMD

Saludos.

Any solution/method to solve the problem?

Hi, no answer from this support thread – I think this plugin may no longer be supported.

I contacted Facebook who advised that the App Review needs to be completed by me (as the user) so hopefully that should solve the issue if they approve the app.

It appears that there is a problem with facebook graph api which this plugin uses.

Even with the permissions granted it will still not work.

Please upvote this here to get it resolved.

Hi. I got so far to have submitted app to facebook and they replied that to show recent posts on website we don’t need to have Page Public Content Access activated in fb app….

So here only person who can help is author dannyvankooten.com

Danny could you help please ? ??

    anyone find a solution?

Well it doesn’t look like the plugin is abandoned as-such, given an update to 2.0.14 late September. I have found that deploying that update invalidates the credentials in some way, but happily rolling back to 2.0.13 AND restoring the database – which may be the bad news if you’ve added much other content to your site in the meantime – did get it working again.

So, can I please add my voice to the chorus, Danny can you help please??

i’m struggling into this, anyone has a fix? Or another plugin that works like this?

Has anyone confirmed that, even with a verified business account and an active app with the “Page Public Content Access” request approved, that this error persists?

I’m awaiting my account to be added to our business account so that I can make the these changes, and will report back with any findings… Doing so as an individual developer you don’t have the ability to request for public content access, which could explain why it doesn’t work (at least in my case).

if this plugin is truly dead, anyone got suggestions for alternatives? ??

No updates on this from anyone? I just discovered three days ago that our facebook feed was disabled so I’m still trying to catch up.
Has anyone found a good alternative plugin? Or has reverting to the old 2.0.13 version worked for others?

I went through the Facebook App Review and was advised the plugin doesnt need Page Public Content Access, as someone posted above. So thats definitely confirmed.

So only the author can really help here, but it seems this isn’t supported. ??

I think I’ll look for another plugin over the next few days.

    Hello everyone,

Sorry but as you might have guessed, I am no longer maintaining this plugin due to time constraints and not wishing to use Facebook any more.

I will be removing the plugin from www.remarpro.com as I am hesitant to transfer the code to another developer without knowing them well enough, as this basically means granting them access to your website (through a plugin update introducing malicious code). That said, if any other developer with enough time and interest wishes to fix and continue the plugin then they are free to do so (by re-uploading it to www.remarpro.com).

Sorry for not being able to help you in a better way right now.

Well, fair play to you @dvankooten for having the good grace to come tell us in person. That matters!

Meanwhile, regarding reverting to 2.0.13, I had anticipated that the fix would be temporary, and indeed after a few days it also perished.

There are alternatives out there but so far I haven’t summoned the mental energy to look at them. Real life gets in the way, you know??

I have been asked to look at a site where the facebook feed has stopped working, and I think this may be the same issue. Can anyone recommend an alternative plugin?
