Updated to the latest version of ROP, had the problem that most others are noting (that Twitter worked but not FB), and after trying to put in the keys was having errors so I deleted the old FB App (which I understand is my fault but how was I to know?) and attempted creating a new one. In doing so however they now require SSL on the website, which I don’t have. So even if some of the other things are fixed I’m still screwed. I’d LOVE SSL but just can’t afford it right now, and my host doesn’t allow free versions like Let’s Encrypt at this time.

Are you intending to do something that gets around this, or is this pretty much something I’m going to have to live with now? As it is, FB is moving to SSL altogether with their apps so even if you’re using a non-SSL app at this time you won’t be able to do that forever. You’ll need SSL eventually if ROP is intending to still go through the apps. I understand that may not be something ROP can get around.

Not happy that while I have Twitter still working, FB is not, and probably won’t anytime soon.

Hi there, unfortunately, this is indeed out of our hands, facebook keeps changing their platform and the required SSL was a recent change which isn’t possible to get around.

You can look into more affordable certificate providers such as NameCheap: https://www.namecheap.com/security/ssl-certificates.aspx and alike

    Hope this helps!

    Hey,

Maybe using the free Cloudflare version would work? https://medium.freecodecamp.org/free-https-c051ca570324

@uriahs-victor Although this is a good idea, Netfirms (my host) does not allow third party SSL certs, so there would be no way for me to add it to the domain.

@themeisle I checked this out and set it up, however, it didn’t work. Here are the notifications I got when attempting to access my site:

This site can’t provide a secure connection
    enderbowen.com uses an unsupported protocol.
    ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH

    Unsupported protocol
The client and server don’t support a common SSL protocol version or cipher suite.

So from what it sounds my host doesn’t even allow me to do THIS. Kind of peeved about that.

Well scratch that last thing. Apparently now it wants to play ball.

Scratch that as well… I still can’t get it to work entirely.

I don’t show that this is secure when I go to the website – it points to https but I don’t get the green “Secure” suggestion.

Also, when I log into the back end wordpress dashboard it’s “Not Secure” and red and the https is crossed out.

And no matter what I do I keep on getting this error when attempting to set up the facebook connection:

URL Blocked: This redirect failed because the redirect URI is not whitelisted in the app’s Client OAuth Settings. Make sure Client and Web OAuth Login are on and add all your app domains as Valid OAuth Redirect URIs.

Hello, your site doesn’t seem to be properly configured with HTTPS yet, please contact your host regarding this, you need to force HTTPS on wp admin and also 301 redirect all HTTP links to HTTPS.

Regarding the error facebook is now throwing you need to ensure the website link is in the Facebook login area of the app.

Please send us a ticket to friends[at]revive.social so we can have a closer look at your issues. This current thread is closed
