facebook and instagram not working, 404

Setup both fb and instagram developer apps and verified auth settings in triplicate per the instructions this plugin provides.

I setup a feed with both facebook and instagram. For facebook I’ve tried the id only, the page-name-with-id and just the page-name. For instagram I used the public account name exactly as seen in the url.

I get the following errors:

The requested URL returned error: 404 NOT FOUND

Facebook loaded posts only once when I used just the numbered id portion of the page url but then went back to 404 error after the first refresh. Instagram never worked even though I’m simply trying to show a public feed.

I checked facebook status page and they report nothing is broken right now.

Lot of hoops to jump through and I’m a developer myself that really doesn’t prefer all these API setup steps…It complicates my job and creates a huge black hole in my time invested. I really do feel like I’m just contributing to litter on the information highway every time I create a new social API “app” just to get a feed plugin to work. Couldn’t imagine my clients doing any of this to be honest. Other plugins like twine social seem to take advantage of oauth without the need to create API developer accounts to stream public posts, might be worth a shot to invest more time on taking the pain away from the setup process.
