FA Lite not working with WP 4.0.1

  • We updated to WP 4.0.1. FA Lite is in 2.5.4. Tried to update to FA Lite 3.0, but it crashed all our page slides, so we reverted back to 2.5.4. Now when we go to add a new page and try to put a slide image on the page by adding a new slide in FA Lite, it throws a 500 error: Internal Server Error (content of error is below) and won’t show the slide image. When we add the id number correctly to our page, it shows a black box, no image. Help! site is rplaw.com.

    Hi,

    Can you please tell me some more about what happened? What I would like to know is:

    1. How did you update the plugin? By FTP or from within WP plugins page?
    2. Did you try to use slider themes from version 2.5.4 in FA 3.0?
    3. When exactly did the page crash?

    As a note, slider themes from previous version aren’t compatible with current 3.0 version.
    Please let me know, I will do my best to help you out with this issue.

    we updated from within the WP Plugins page
    yes, we tried to use slider themes from version 2.5.4 in FA 3.0
    pages didn’t crash, just the slides went black/blank, after updating to FA 3.0

    slider themes from previous version aren’t compatible with current 3.0 version. What do I do about that? Best steps to resolve? Thank you so much for your quick reply. Very appreciative and grateful.

    I forgot to mention that when we try to add a new slide in the old version 2.5, the image is also gone/hidden/disappeared.

    We’ll also post detailed tutorials on how to migrate themes from FA 2.5.4 to 3.0.

    When activating (via Website, not FTP) the Slider… light 3, following error appears:

    Fatal error: Cannot redeclare FA_display_slider() (previously declared in /mnt/web4/e3/69/53516569/htdocs/WordPress_06/wp-content/plugins/featured-articles-lite/includes/functions.php:252) in /mnt/web4/e3/69/53516569/htdocs/WordPress_06/wp-content/plugins/featured-articles-lite/main.php on line 146

    We noticed then, that in the plugin area the old and the new plugin was there automatically. So we had the idea to delete the new one and go ahead with the old version, but after deleting the new one, the old was lost too.

    But really would appreciate very much to go back to your slider!!!

    Hi Petra,

    From your error seems like the old Lite (2.5) was installed at the same time as current 3.0. This shouldn’t happen, can’t say what could be going on. If you removed both versions (you can check by FTP and see if the folder is still in wp-content/plugins) you can install current 3.0 version without any issues.
