    Hi there,

I’ve been having some problems with Crumbsandpetals.com loading extremely slowly. The problem seems to be fairly sporadic, showing up sometimes but not others. It affects both front and back-end.

We did have some early slow-downs due to very large image files being used on the frontpage, but that issue was fixed so I’m not sure what could be causing this unless it’s Jetpack?

The site does use a number of plugins: Jetpack, WP Super Cache, nrelate, Akismet, Facebook and Skimlinks.

The site is hosted by Dreamhost using PHP 5.3.

  • notice that it is difficult to reach and fetch data from your site.
otherwise, page load is good. check: https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.crumbsandpetals.com/H0lamfdE

now go to command prompt and type >tracert Crumbsandpetals.com. notice the route is quite long.

this definitely looks like a DNS issue so check on that. hope lamp is all good.
and looks like you are on dreamhost.. if am not wrong, they have a pooling system for http requests which causes delay. but they provide managed service to use cloudflare cdn, so you can make use of that for some relief.. or migrate to a new hosting.

    Thank you very much.

I’ve refreshed the DNS to see if that helps. If it doesn’t I’ll get in touch with Dreamhost.

I’ll take a look at cloudflare, but I’d prefer to try and find a solution to the slowdown rather than using another service to patch over it.

Seems to load fine. You do use a lot of images. Almost 40 on the front page. Reduce that and your load time will reduce.

Thanks. It seems to have settled down now the DNS has been refreshed.

I’ve also cut the number of posts on the front page down a bit.

I did code optimization for my site.
My site has a lot of plugins and became very slowly too. But I just used some cache plugin + replaced permanent static php strings in header.phph by html code from browser + did the same with footer + added mod_gzip for css/html/php/js/ajax in .htaccess.
Now I am so happy, because site response time is good enough.

Optimized for double check another website Salem Oregon Plumbing.

Im having super load speeds. Can anybody give me real answers as to why my site is taking so long to load?

Here are a few tools that can help diagnose slow load times. Oftentimes it is due to a bloated WordPress themes, poorly places scripts, large images, etc.

    https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/

    https://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/

Gzip, caching, image compression, database optimization are a few things I’d recommend looking into. Take a look at this list for easy ways to increase page speed.

FYI, Quick Cache is planning on changing their name to Zen Cache in the near future.
