• Hi,

My WP 1.5 is extremely slow in posting. 1.2 was damn quick and had that little checkbox for “Pingback URL’s in this post”. In 1.5 this checkbox has gone! Why? I’ve disabled pingbacking post URLs in the options but still posting takes forever. Any help would be much appreciated as slow posting is discouraging me from posting!

    Thanks.

  • I removed the ping server from “Admin->Options->Writing->Update Services”, and it works perfect now. So I guess it’s the problem of the ping server. ??

Anybody else out there STILL having this problem? I’ve deleted the PING services, I’ve turned of the link checking and everything else I can think of. It’s a small blog so far, but every post has at least 1 link. Sometimes more.

    Thoughts?

The current post.php tries to do trackback’s regardless of what your settings are.

It should be pretty easy to change this in the code.

    Here’s a tip:
Do not publish, but save your article as private (or draft) if you intend to edit it a lot.

When you are ready with the article then turn it public.

WordPress does the trackback’s and ping’s only when you publish your article.

I am having the same problem. Most of the post, is being published and sometimes, i believe that some of you will also look back on the post and may want to edit a bit and save. Even some of my post doesn’t have much link, like some only have 1 link, it took quite some time to save. There is one time that i thought maybe the post oledi save so i press the manage to go to another post or start to do another thing, and suddenly i notice that one of my published post(the post just post, waiting for long time)was gone.

I have the same problem (1.5). Turning off “notify all blogs” makes no difference as far as I can detect. The blog is at https://www.willems.ca/blog/

This is stopping me from continuing my blog – any suggestions anyone? I have seen that options suggestied- tried that, no difference. Anything else?

Oh! It was https://rpc.pingomatic.com/ – that slows it down very dramatically. Taking that away, all is oK.

Chalk up another victim of this problem…

Searched the forums, tried different things, nothing works.

    Help!

fallingj – and removing pingomatic does NOT help your problem ?

    podz: Nope.

I have quite a few ping addresses, so I’ll probably just go through each one and see which are dogs, which are OK.

    Thanks.

I’m having problems with slow loading pages too. Would anyone mind taking a look and giving me a suggestion as to how to make the pages load more quickly. Is it possibly something to do with the host’s server? Replies would be much appreciated. I should have mentioned – I’m on WP version 2.0. My site is at https://www.tcsoa.com

Posting is incredibly slow for me as well. Removing pingmatic from the ping list doesn’t help. Often, I’m also prompted to download post.php when the posting is finished. Finally, my Dashboard takes forever to load. Like, 120 seconds on average. I realize these are a number of problems, but any help would be really appreciated. I’m getting very frustrated. Thanks!

    I’m running 2.0.1 at https://tanglewoodtree.net.
