• While the idea of a block editor is good (and not new), this is extremely disappointing and too limiting.

A prime example is… I don’t want to be FORCED to give a page a title that will display. Not all pages need displayed titles and in fact get in the way of design.

The classic editor was much better.

Bring back the option of using either the classic editor or Guttenberg block editor.

And based on the reviews here…. I’m not alone in my thinking regarding Guttenberg.

  • I don’t think it’s going to change your mind on Gutenberg, but I have to say, whether the title is displayed or not, is up to your theme to decide. Lots of themes offers different page layouts, where you can choose to display the title or leave it out.

In the backend, it’s nice with a name for the page instead of a page id, imo.

If the Guttenberg is the backend then WordPress development should also provide a way to turn it on or off. Personally I think Guttenberg is an experiment gone awry. Good in theory but not developed enough for release. It’s way too restricting.

In the classic editor there was also a mandatory field for the page title.
This is not specific to gutenberg. With plugins like Editorskit for example you can easily hide the title of a gutenberg page. And like @oldrup said the display of the title is in general up to your theme
