Extremely customizable, very engaged developers

I’ve only been using this for a brief while, but what little I’ve seen really sets it apart form other comment systems I’ve seen. You get the basic, core wordpress comments experience (which greatly reduces the complexity of your installation, by not relying on a third-party plugin), while being able to benefit from an impressive array of extensions to that core.

Almost everything you can think of is customizable (for example, just about every bit of wording in the plugin experience, in the “phrases” section, can be tweaked to your preference), and the developers seem to be committed to continuing to meet the community’s requests for improving the experience.

My one minor quibble, which has already been voiced in at least one other review, is that there is currently no easy way to customize it for a dark theme. The primary issues revolve around the small images (for example, the spiraling arrow(s) for refreshing the captcha image, and the link icon to get the comment’s link); they are hard to see, or decipher, on a dark background. I have a feeling the developers are aware of this, though, and will be addressing it. Considering their competence in what they’ve already done with this plugin, I trust them to come up with an elegant method for dealing with this.
