• Hello everyone,

My web developers set up my site and now I am trying to make modifications to it. They used the Advanced Custom Fields plugin.

I am trying to change a word that appears in the ACF section on my WP backend but the changes aren’t being reflected on my front end.

I go into my ACF section, I click on the title, I then click on edit for the field label I want to edit. I edit the title of the field label. This field label is linked to one of my webpages. Even when I go to that webpage to make edits in my backend, I can see the word I wanted to replace has been replaced. I clicked update in both the ACF section as well as the page itself. When I go to my front end though, the word has not changed.

    Any clues?

  • More than likely means it’s hard coded into the page theme and isn’t dynamically sync’d with the value in ACF.

    Hmmm… so what now?

I went into the editor in the appearance tab and I don’t see any of that there. How can I change this myself? It’s just 1 word I want to change.

Depending on what the field is, it could be almost anywhere in your theme.

Does this field on show up on a certain page? Do you know if that page uses a template? Does it show up in your header or on posts? Your answer will lead you to which file you need to open in the Editor.

Yes it shows up on a particular page: https://www.xenaccounting.com/xero

I want to change the word “Kashoo” to “Xero” which is setup as a repeater field with Advanced Custom Fields at the bottom of the page.

I don’t know if this page uses a template.

I found the repeater field in the Editor, which is labeled “what_else” but I have no clue what to do next.

    Help!

Are you using the ACF plugin?

    Yup!

    Hi xenaccounting,

Yup, this page is using a template: kashoo.php.

Go to Appearance > Editor and open up that file. Find the line “What Else Makes Kashoo So Great?” and update it to “Xero” and click “Update.” (Please make sure to copy the contents of the file somewhere safe in case you need it later.)

Just reread your first post – each plugin has its own dedicated forum – for ACF, see:

Read the sticky post at the top of that forum.

I wasn’t aware that I couldn’t post about ACF here. Sorry about that. I actually went to their forum and they aren’t allowing any new topics, which pretty much means I’m on my own.

jtyarks, I took your advice, but I can’t find that line, probably because I’m using a plugin?

For future reference, Advanced Custom Fields has their own support forum.

As for not being able to find that line, I’m afraid without knowing your theme/set up I can’t point you in the right place. Sorry about that!

Here’s the obvious question: Any chance you can ask your web developers where it is and/or how to update it?

jtyarks, you were right, I fixed it! Thanks!
