Extracting posts from old and offline but backed up blog

I used to have a blog which has been offline for sometime. I’d like to review the posts on that blog and possibly resurrect them. I believe when the blog went offline it was version 2.xx.

I have the backups of the blog and databases. How can I access those old posts? If I need to know the last version of that blog, where can I find that in the backups.
