If I search for my show (Sleep Whispers) in Apple Podcasts and then look at the show notes in an episode, there is an extra return/break between all the paragraphs.

But if I subscribe to my podcast and look at the show notes through my Library in Apple Podcasts that way, then all is normal.

This means that anyone peeking into my show notes on Apple Podcasts before subscribing are seeing that broken view of my show notes.

This didn’t happen before I added the Blubrry plug-in.

    How do I fix this?

First, In the Reading menu of WordPress Settings (Just plain settings in the sidebar) Select full text where it says “For each post in a feed, include” select “Full Text” Save changes.

Second. If you are using Classic Editor, in the post editor, click “Screen Options” and check the box for Summary. If you are using the Block editor, click the little 3 dot icon in the upper right, select Settings, and make sure the Summary box is checked.

Then, when you do a post, Type out your formatted show notes in the big text box, the main content area of the post. Put a summary (a few lines describing the episode) in the summary box.

Make sure you are not using a word processor (Word, Google Docs or Apple’s pages) and cutting and pasting into WordPress. You should either type in the post editor directly or paste in plain text only.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Full Text was already checked.

Using classic editor but I don’t see “summary” so currently can’t check the box or write a summary. I will attach a screenshot if able.

Not using a word processor. Problem started after I added the Blubrry plug-in.

I’ve seen this problem mentioned in about 3 other Blubrry plug-in threads but it doesn’t seem like it has been figured out yet. I reached out to some of those thread creators and the problem still persists for them.

I appreciate the help. Any other ideas I could try?

(how attach screenshot?, I don’t see a function, thanks)

Are you using the Classic Editor, Block Editor or some other “page builder” when you make your posts?

    Classic editor.

Are you typing the show notes into the box? or pasting them from somewhere else?

When you edit, can you look in the “text” version of the editor (tabs on the upper right of the box) and see if there is some extra line break code in there? Like <p> instead of <be> or something like that?

    Typing them in.

No codes between paragraphs at all in “Text” view of a post.

There is a strange thing that happens every time when I hit “edit” to open up a post. A different font and spacing of the entire post flashes for half-second, then disappears and my normal post shows. I don’t remember that happening before this extra line break problem started.

If the text looks normal in the post. You are not using any special formatting from a Word Processor. The only thing I can think of is to ask Apple why it’s doing that. If you are sending plain text to them in the feed, they format it however they format it.

If they can tell you why they are putting extra spaces lines in there, maybe we can figure out how to prevent it, but I don’t have any other ideas at this point.

You can contact us at Blubrry Support so I can look a little deeper. (rather than in this public forum)
