• Hello,

I noticed that now every time we paste external content (let’s say Google Drive for example) in a blog post (edit screen) the images are automatically uploaded and added to the gallery with file names and titles like ‘image-2-2.png’.

This wasn’t happening before. Images stayed on the post as external images (with external links). In our case this is the desired behaviour.

Is there any way to disable WordPress to automatically upload external images when creating or updating a blog post?

Not sure when this started to work like that. Probably since Version 6.2

    Thanks!

  • This doesn’t happen for me on 6.2 are you sure you don’t have a plugin that does this?

You can try disabling all plugins and switch to default theme and see if it happens. This is made easy with the ‘health check and troubleshooting’ plugin which allows you to switch off plugins and themes without impacting other users.
