So for external linked images which are http, and causing mixed content issue, will this plugin help?

All your external images will be changed to https. This will fix your mixed content issue. But please note that if those images are hosted on a domain that doesn’t have an SSL certificate, this may result in broken images. In that case you’ll need to download the images to your own server.
