extending invitation expiration

Does anyone know of a quick & easy way to extend the invitation expiration time period (3 days?) to the automatically generated user activation keys? Our invited users keep timing out before they get around to accepting their invitations. I haven’t found a plugin to deal with this easily or successfully sleuthed out where this setting lives in the database.
