    Hey there,

    I have some troubles with this plugin:
    In Safari it needs >15s to load the Express-Checkout Button on the cart page.
    Console is showing nothing.

    Is this a common bug? What can I do to speed things up?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Experiencing the same issue. Only on safari. For me, it’s also my cart summary. Happens any time I add a coupon as well.

    Sorry to learn about the delay you’re seeing. I did some testing in Safari and don’t see any significant delay. Do you mind sharing your shop URL so we can take a closer look?

    Hey guys,

    Is your issue specific to the new M1 Mac w/ safari by any chance?

    I’m also getting this issue.

    Hey guys,

    I have the problem only on desktop (Intel-Mac). In iOS it works fine.

    Here is a link that directs you to a non-empty cart:

    @hellogerowsky

    On your site, I can see that there is a request made to https://www.paypalobjects.com/upstream/assets/messaging/modal/ramp-experiment-ssr.json that is taking a long time to complete. You can see that in your browser inspector in the network tab under XHR requests.

    We’ve had similar reports in the past and the comment here indicates that this may be related to poor coding in WordPress themes and/or certain cart/checkout plugins

    With that in mind, do you still experience this issue if you temporarily switch to and unmodified, default theme such as Twenty Twenty-one or Storefront and temporarily disable all plugins except for WooCommerce and PayPal Checkout?

    @wbrubaker thanks for your reply!
    Do you have any idea why the request is taking so long to complete? This is an official PayPal-Domain. So it shouldn’t slow things down, or am I missing something here?

    I am using Oxygen Builder, so there is no theme installed. I am also wondering why it works fine in firefox and chrome but not in macOS safari? Could it have something to do with Apple Pay?

    Hey @wbrubaker,

    I now spent hours to disable ALL plugins, shortcodes etc., I also switched to the standard theme.
    It still doesn’t work.
    The culprits seem to be just some SVG images from the PayPal servers.

    I think this has something to do with browser compatibility and has to be solved from your side?

    I checked on an older MacBook with High Sierra installed and it loads as fast as it should. It doesn’t work on a newer Mac with Catalina (10.15.7) and Safari 14.0.3. On monday I can check on other machines.

    @wbrubaker Sorry, I thought you were the plugin developer. Just figured your are not so this can’t be solved from you side, obviously ??

    The problem still exists, even on a new shop with standard theme – but just on newer macs.

    I solved it for now by using another plugin from the WooCommerce Store.
