• Hello, I’m experiencing some kind of conflict involving Footnotes. The impacted page can be seen here (unless we resolve the problem before this gets read/addressed): https://www.apologeticscanada.com/conference-2017/

On a fresh page load, before clicking anywhere, you can notice the issue by moving the mouse over the menu at the top (it should shade slightly on roll-over) or down the page a bit with the speaker bio photos (mouse-over should change them from black-and-white to color images).

The reason they don’t change, seems to be:

    <div id=”exposeMask” style=”position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 1208px; height: 7020px; display: block; opacity: 0.8; z-index: 9998;”></div>

If I disable Footnotes, then this problem goes away. I might solve it by disabling Footnotes for this page, as it isn’t needed on this page. But, I’d like to figure out what is actually causing the problem/conflict.

The site is running X Theme (by Themeco) and has a number of other plugins in use. This page also has some custom code being loaded (not native to X Theme).

Any help or tips would be appreciated. ?? Thanks!

    Hi @stevew928,

Although footer will load some scripts into the page it won’t perform any actions unless there’s a footnote on there, so it’s odd that this is happening. Have you tried the opposite action – disabling all other plugins and leaving footnotes active to see if it is just this plugin or a clash with another? If you could try that and let me know the result that would be appreciated.

Thank much, and you were correct. With the other plugins off and only Footnotes, it worked. So, I started turning on other plugins, and eventually found Ninja Forms Version 3.0.6 caused the problem with Footnotes enabled.

If I disable either Footnotes, or Ninja Forms, then it works, even with all other plugins we use turned on. I’m not quite sure how to proceed, other than making Ninja Forms devs aware of this thread (or giving them similar info).

The chances are that something Ninja Forms is adding is conflicting and activating the footnotes. What I’d like to do at some point is make it so that footnotes doesn’t load its scripts on pages where it’s not used – that might sort out the issue for you but doesn’t get to the root of the problem.

Are you using the basic Ninja Forms or are you using any of the commercial add-ons for it?
