Exposed Google API Key

I recently had a security audit completed on my site, and we had an alert that there was an exposed Google Map API key found on our website. I’ve tracked the issue down to the Google Map API key that is used to display the map for the locations within the Event Manager plugin. When I view source code for my site, I can view the Google Map API key used by the plugin to integrate with Google Maps. Is there a way to make the Google Map API key used by the Event Manager Plugin, not publicly accessible?
