exporting/importing mysql database information

We switched servers and when we were up and running our word press blogs lost all their info.

My new server can not give me any info on how to retrieve my lost database. My old server told me to get third party software to do this.

Just getting the blog up and running is a major coup for me. I can not understand or figure out how to export my database and import it again.
