Exporting WP site

I installed WP using this tutorial. And it all ran correctly and i finished my website. But i was expecting the export to be something i’m used to (as i only recently started using CMS-es, wordpress is my fist) like a directory with wp-admin, wp-content etc, and an index.php file, because till now i have made my websites the “old school” way and thats the structure I’m used to uploading to a live server. Instead when i use the default WP tool for exporting i get a .XML file, and when i export with phpmyadmin(even though it gives me some options) it exports as a sql file. Does anyone know how i can export my website in the structure I’m used to or link me to some further reading on what i am supposed to do with these files (Im writing first here, but i will do my research ?? ).

Additional info: Im running a Desktop version of Ubuntu 15.04 and am working on my website locally (localhost).
