    Hello,

    I am building a food blog website and I am using Simmer. It’s really nice. Currently the site is on my localhost and I want to export it to the live website. I have successfully exported all the pages and posts, but the simmer posts lose their ingredients and instructions in the export process. Any idea why?

    I am using the build in WordPress export facility (Tools > Export ).

    Hi Joke! Right now Simmer recipes can be exported in JSON. Are you finding that when you view or use this JSON file, the ingredients and instructions items are gone from recipes?

    Hi Lara,

    That sounds wonderful (although a little strange because the regular export in WordPress produces an XML file).

    Anywat how? I have searched the plugin options and can’t find a reference to a JSON export. Also looked in your simmer support section and codex – nothing about JSON as far as I can tell.

    Hi Joke – Thanks for the update and for working with us on this bug. We have a Github Issue outlined for a potential problem with exporting here on Github since August 2015: https://github.com/simmerwp/simmer/issues/77 You can make an open source contribution to fix the problem in the code via Github with a pull request any time if you find it. Many thanks! JSON is largely replacing XML, including in WordPress. We’re still adding a lot of additional information to our documentation, and we’ll be sure to work on our export instructions and actual features asap.

    In the meantime, you can “clone” the database that holds WordPress to make sure you’re not just taking the posts, pages, and recipes, but all other relevant data between your local and production environments. You can do this a few ways, including with any of the plugins widely available on the www.remarpro.com plugin directory for backup tools.
