Exporting and Importing comments

    I am trying to export a post from one WP site, and import it into another WP site. The post has several comments.

    When I do the standard export and import posts (I selected just the one post) with Tools -> Export and Import, it carried across the post, but not the comments.

    Is it supposed to copy the existing comments too ? I think it is, because the xml file shows the comments. How do I troubleshoot this?

    Thanks – the plugin works.

    However I’m still curious to know if WordPress core export and import is supposed to transfer the comments too? I’d be really suprised if WordPress core has no ability to do this.

    I don’t recall if the core export/import includes comments. Since all transfer I’ve done in the past are complex, I always use a third party export/import plugin.

    I’m hoping someone who has exported and imported one or more posts across a WP sites will be able to advise if it supposed to transfer comments as well.
