When you create a download you can input your own file name for the download link but the File Name field isn’t included when you export your products, why in the world not?

I have over 2,000 downloads I’m moving over to a different website so now I have to either manually change the file names for each one or use WordPress’ built in exporter to export my downloads and then use a plugin to import it back in, the .xml file WordPress exports does show the File Name.

  • Hi There. I just used the WordPress Exporter found in youriste/wp-admin/export.php. I exported all of the “Downloads” I searched the .xml file that is generated and I see the download file in the XML data.

I imported the xml, using the WordPress importer, and the file path was included once the import was finished. Can you try to do this again?

Yep, I know the WordPress export/import works as mentioned in my post above (at the end) but Easy Digital Downloads has an export/import built into the plugin so there’s really no reason it shouldn’t include the download name when exporting products. My original post was more of a suggestion than a support question.
