• Hello everyone and thanks for the wonderful WordPress!

I’d like to ask if there is some easy way of converting wordpress site to static HTML. I need to be able to create static mirror of wp site to be updated quite often, so the process should be as painless as possible.
As for now, I’m using HTtrack website downloader, but it duplicates a lot of content because of permalinks – it doesn’t know anything about the structure of the site.
So I wanted to ask whether you know abou some plugin that would do this, but using more info it has about site’s structure – like some modification of caching plugin.

Thanks for your time, have a nice day :).

  • I’m not aware of anything any more elegant than what you’re already using.

Out of curiosity, what’s the “why” behind the request? Maybe there’s a different way to skin the cat.

    Thanks for the advice ??
The why is: I created a site for client using WP, client promised to install apache and sql, but he didn’t yet, but he wants to have the site online now. And of course with regular updates. So the site runs on my server for now and I do a download-all-and-copy-it-to-another-server process every few days. I thought there must be something simpler, I dont want to have mor work than clicking a button in WP or running a batch file :). Lazy programmer is a good programmer ??

Lol – make his index.php a redirect to where the content is :-p

wonder if you can stuff a link to his stuff (on your server) in a frame from his site…

index.php fails because of mod_rewrite (www.client.com/product/servers won’t trigger index.php). But the solution with frames? Mmmm – one frame with width 100% and height 100% leading elsewhere would hide the true adress the content comes from, but it would trigger ‘cross-site frames’ alert in IE, and it wouldn’t work with tight internet security setting.
