Export file size jumped 3 times for no reason

Export file of

https://metrochannel.in/blog/

was 170 KB on Sep 15th. Today I updated the blog and downloaded the export file. It rang in at a whopping 563 KB. I haven’t done anything to the blog save for adding the new post today.

Being neurotic and a unix newbie, I suspect some sort of hacking.

The only other explanation could have to do with spam. While my other two similarly hosted blogs attract 5-10 spam comments a day (I haven’t installed Akismet), Metro Channel attracts 30-40 per day.

I delete these each day. But could these be hanging around in the trash somewhere. And even if they are, why would they get into the export file.
