• When I run the export (under WP Tools), I receive this error:
    “error on line 2 at column 1: Document is empty”
    The rest of the page is blank.
    I ran the export a few weeks ago and it worked perfectly. I’m not sure what changed.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Why are you using an old copy of WordPress? Were you aware that your site is currently running a very real risk of being hacked? You need to upgrade WordPress asap.

    Thanks for the suggestions. I will that!

    In regards to the version of WP, I updated to 3.9 and my blog crashed. I had so many headaches with it, that I rolled back the installation to the more stable 3.8 version.
