    Hi,

Just to let people with special care with SEO stuff and multilingual support of their Dokan based ecommerce know:

    • Dokan Pro does not allow you to get rid off base slug for vendors’ individual stores. That is, you will not be able to have a clean URL like this (mymarketplace.com/vendor1). You will have to go through a URL like this (mymarketplace.com/store/vendor1), having the possibility to customize and change the word ‘store’, but never leaving this field blank in Dokan settings.
    • A multilingual annoying problem related to the previous one: if your ecommerce has to deal with more than one language (we use WPML), you will not be able to have for example “mymarketplace.com/store/vendor1” for English and “mymarketplace.com/tienda/vendor1” for Spanish. The slug word you select to “group” vendors’ stores is unique and cannot be translated to different languages. Therefore, you will see that unique word in every vendor shop URL, no matter which language users selects in your ecommerce.

As a summary, coming from WCFM, I expected much more flexibility in Dokan with these details, or at least, not so many red lines and restrictions that seem so basic and not logical to me.

Hope this post based on my experience saves you some time, as official support just told me “sorry but we can do nothing on these two issues you report, it’s the way Dokan internally works”.

Have a nice and less dissapointing day than mine,
    Miguel.

    Hi @lonifasiko

The WPML plugin is not 100% compatible with the Dokan plugin currently. We have checked our system and unable to find anything where we have mentioned something like your statement “sorry but we can do nothing on these two issues you report, it’s the way Dokan internally works”. But yes, we had asked you to share your this enhancement request to our feature request section. Let me discuss both the points that you have mentioned below.

    • By default WordPress only provides slug immediately after the domain name for posts and pages. WordPress does not even allow custom post types also to have a slug immediately after the domain name. For example, you can have a look at single product page of WooCommerce where there is a word used products to differentiate the single product page template. The single store page is a template being rendered from a PHP file and acting like a page. You will need to define an endpoint depending on which a template will be rendered. This is the reason why the vendor store URL is a must to be included in the store URL of a vendor and can not be omitted as that is working as an endpoint.
    • Right now, we do not have the support of WPML to translate the vendor store URL in multiple languages. But I have let the assigned team know about this enhancement.

    Hi @lonifasiko,

We have not heard back from you for long. Due to inactivity, I am going to close this topic.

    Thank you!

Thanks for your response Jahidun. I’m not going to enter in the debate of the first point as my technical knowledge on how WordPress internally works is quite limited. I fully understand your position, I just was asking for shorter and cleaner SEO-oriented URLs.

Hope at least you can soon do something with the multilingual capability of the vendor store URL, as it is important for users not to see in the URL words in another language that can generate confussion on them.

Hope with feedback and steps like this we all can make a better and more powerful Dokan marketplace.

Thanks very much and best regards from Spain,
    Miguel.
