Expected some more flexibility with Dokan Pro URL structures
-
Hi,
Just to let people with special care with SEO stuff and multilingual support of their Dokan based ecommerce know:
- Dokan Pro does not allow you to get rid off base slug for vendors’ individual stores. That is, you will not be able to have a clean URL like this (mymarketplace.com/vendor1). You will have to go through a URL like this (mymarketplace.com/store/vendor1), having the possibility to customize and change the word ‘store’, but never leaving this field blank in Dokan settings.
- A multilingual annoying problem related to the previous one: if your ecommerce has to deal with more than one language (we use WPML), you will not be able to have for example “mymarketplace.com/store/vendor1” for English and “mymarketplace.com/tienda/vendor1” for Spanish. The slug word you select to “group” vendors’ stores is unique and cannot be translated to different languages. Therefore, you will see that unique word in every vendor shop URL, no matter which language users selects in your ecommerce.
As a summary, coming from WCFM, I expected much more flexibility in Dokan with these details, or at least, not so many red lines and restrictions that seem so basic and not logical to me.
Hope this post based on my experience saves you some time, as official support just told me “sorry but we can do nothing on these two issues you report, it’s the way Dokan internally works”.
Have a nice and less dissapointing day than mine,
Miguel.
