• Perhaps this already exists so someone tell me if it does: I’d like to see the Links Mgr. expanded via a plugin so it can do things it doesn’t appear able to do now.

    1. display javascript code (as in a technorati cosmos link)
    2. display external images (I’ve only been able to get links to display amazon links & no other external images)
    3. display html
    4. use WP Amazon plugin to display products via Links

  • Ummm, what’s the point of using the links manager to display products via links? As the author of CG-Amazon (which was built for sidebar and in-post Amazon product display), just wondering where the connection to the link manager comes in. Seems like cramming functionality into a system that wasn’t designed for that use… But interested to hear more (i.e., maybe there’s a particular feature you’re looking for that might make a new plugin that taps into CG-Amazon or something like that…).

I didn’t know about your plugin. Could you provide a link to a site telling me more about it. I’ve downloaded wp amazon & as far as I can tell it doesn’t do sidebar product display. Perhaps your plugin is more functional.

Take a look at my sidebar ( https://www.richardsilverstein.com ) & go down to my books & cd section. All that is done via links mgr. But it’s pretty tedious to put all the image urls & amazon product links (with my AA id) into ea. of those individual links.

If I can do all that w. cg amazon I’d consider using your plugin.

UPDATE: I just found yr. plugin…a bit of feedback: your server is SLOW. And 2nd, your download file URL timed out & I can’t download the plugin. I may try downloading using IE.

I finally got the download to work & installed it. It looks mighty impressive. But I was stopped in my tracks by the notice that 20% of MY links will receive your AA ID. Yes, I understand why you’re doing this & you certainly have a right to do it. But I’ve never seen a WP plugin in which the author took a ‘cut’ out of the plugin user’s use of the plugin. If you asked me to make a donation in return for installing the plugin I’d prob. do that. But I just don’t like the idea of your AA ID in my links. It just strikes me as overly monetizing your efforts. But again, it’s your plugin & it’s your business to decide how you want to implement it.

It seems to me that you’re aiming your plugin at heavy commerical users & perhaps businesses. If that’s what I was & earned significant income off my site I might consider your plugin a wise business investment. But that’s not what I am. I’m a small non commerical site. I hardly earn any AA commissions at all since I’m promoting world music & books about politics, literature & the Mideast conflict. The Amazon links are really a sideline for my site.

I think I can live w. the partial functionality of Links Mgr & WP Amazon (though I would’ve liked to try CG Amazon since it does seem a lot more powerful).
