• Expand this plugin to detect media deletions by web host vandals; and to send a log of all detections to the email account and/or smartphone of the web master.

A major problem with web hosting across the board is thugs in paid hosting who have nothing better to do than vandalize their clients’ web sites by i.e., deleting images from the media folder, deleting plugins, damaging code, etc., and there is no way to detect this.

I just found an istock image I had PAID for deleted from the media folder, leaving a blank space in the post where it had been before.  I was able to track the date when the image was first installed using the Revisions.  But I can’t detect the date and time when someone invaded my Peepso-Wordpress installation and maliciously deleted the image from the media folder.

I have changed web hosts countless times trying to avoid these little marauders, to no avail, the damage continues, and it’s about time we had a PLUGIN to help us log when and how a site is altered when we site owners are not looking.  Obviously, the vandals can also login and shut off that plugin, or delete that plugin, so how would THAT be detected?

I have not experienced what you describe, even after using WordPress professionaly for 10+ years, so I’m not sure how to handle it. It sounds like there may be a security issue with your plugins or your WordPress installation.

If a hacker does have an admin account, your are correct that they can login and turn of the plugin. That issue has been raised by other users, so I have created an issue regarding this, so maybe an solution for it will come in the future.
