A client has asked me to do a site for him, but had already had a WordPress one made by a Ukrainian guy prior. They said the guy was shady and after a bit of time, the site was hacked and flooded the computer of anyone who logged in with a nasty virus.

I connected to the site via FTP and no wp files were present. I uploaded 3.2.1 and went through the installation process. When I clicked the ‘Let’s Go’ button, it took me to a page saying something like ‘it appears wp has already been installed… something… click here.’ I did and it took me to a log in screen that, beneath the ‘lost your password’ prompt has some Cyrillic characters:
← Back to Cтудия WOW-production link leads to: https://serverslot.org.ua/ (403)

At this point, I’m at a loss as to how to set up an administrator pass for this site, but more so concerned that this group of shady people may somehow still be able to access the site. And if I set up WP again, could they potentially come back in and ruin it?

This is resolved now. Called the host and there were some files I couldn’t see. They instructed me towards a more secure port.
