    I have a strange problem.
We relaunched our website https://www.cyprusisrael.co.il and after a few days, coverage went dramatically down.

In the search console, we have about 20 links that are marked as EXCLUDED by noindex.

However, when I check the source of the pages, I see:
    <meta name=”robots” content=”index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1″ />

We are using YOAST. can you please help?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

@ilanziv1 We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.

We reviewed the URL you provided and were able to find the noindex meta tag present in the source code (see image here). So if you aren’t seeing this for that URL, it’s likely that you are viewing a cached version of the page.

If you clear your cache does this resolve the issue with being unable to see the tag? We have information on how to clear your browser cache at the following link: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-clear-my-browsers-cache/.

There are a number of ways you can set a page to noindex, so we would recommend checking all of them.

You can set pages to default to noindex by performing the following actions:

? In WordPress go to SEO>Search Appearance>Content Types
? For Pages set ‘Show Pages in search results’ to ‘No’
      ? Click ‘Save Changes’

Also, we would recommend checking to make sure that the page is set to noindex on the individual page’s edit page. You can check this setting by performing the following actions:

? Go to the Edit screen for a page by going in WordPress to Pages and then clicking the ‘Edit’ link beneath the Page in question
? Scroll down to the Yoast metabox
? Click on the ‘Advanced’ area
? For ‘Allow search engines to show this Page in search results?’ make sure this is set to ‘No’
      * Note (setting this value to Yes will set meta robots to index and setting No would set meta robots to noindex)

We also have a guide on how to set a page/post or taxonomy’s meta robots tag to noindex here: https://yoast.com/help/how-do-i-noindex-urls/

Can you please try the aforementioned suggestions and let us know whether this resolves your issue?

Hi and thanks so much for your help!
So first thing first – I’ve managed to clear my browser cache, and I do see the noindex on this page.

However – I’ve checked both places you’ve mentioned – (wordpress -> SEO -> Search Appearance -> Content Type) and both in the individual page, and both are set to YES.

So any idea where the noindex may come from?

    Thanks so much!
    Ilan.

    Hi,

If you’ve checked both of those options and have set it to ‘yes’, we would expect that the meta robots tag would show as ‘index’ for this page https://www.cyprusisrael.co.il/%d7%90%d7%96%d7%a8%d7%97%d7%95%d7%aa-%d7%90%d7%99%d7%a8%d7%95%d7%a4%d7%90%d7%99%d7%aa-%d7%95%d7%aa%d7%95%d7%a9%d7%91%d7%95%d7%aa-%d7%a7%d7%a4%d7%a8%d7%99%d7%a1%d7%90%d7%99%d7%aa/.

It looks like your entire website is set to ‘noindex’, so you may want to check the option here if you’ve discouraged the search engines from indexing the site — https://yoast.com/help/how-to-noindex-an-entire-site/

Hi and again, thanks for trying to help.
ALL of these places you’ve mentioned are set to index (all 3 locations).
Anyway, I can send you a screenshot, just to make sure I am checking at the right place?
    Ilan.

    Hello Ilan!

Thanks for getting back to us.

Just to be sure, we would like to rule out any plugin or theme conflicts that may occur. The fastest way to do this is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Nineteen.?Then check if the noindex tag is still there. If not, reactivate your other plugins one at a time and check if the issue occurs again for every plugin reactivated. Lastly, switch back to your theme.

Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check?without affecting normal visitors to your site.

As we can imagine that you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.

If you do not feel comfortable to do this yourself or if this does not solve your issue, our Yoast SEO Premium plugin comes with one year of (technical) support.`
