Exclude words but not links from translation

Hi,

I’d like the text of my menu to be excluded from translation, but obviously I still need the links to be translated (to keep the current language when changing pages).

I tried this method below but this also prevent the links from being processed:

Edit: The do-not-translate CSS class is on the parent menu. I realize that some child links are processed and some not. Not sure what the reason is.
