Exclude tooltip on multiple page posts

I occasionally write longer multi-page posts. Setting the tooltip limit to “1” will display the tooltip on only the first instance, but it will display it on every page of the post. I was wondering if there is a way to limit the number of tooltips shown in the entire post?
