Exclude some post categories from front end

I have purchased the pro version and I am trying to prevent clients from being able to select certain post categories from the front end. I have added ‘Uncategorized’ and ‘My ministry’ as a comma separated list in the ‘exclude’ area, but they still show up as selectable – any ideas? Thanks, Matt
