Exclude private fields (“Only Me”) from search results

    Hello, I use BP Profile Search with Buddyboss, but if a field such as Birthday is marked private aka “Only Me” in visibility settings, it is still showing that member in the Search results, even though upon clicking the profile, the information is correctly hidden. ie if I have a February birthday and have chosen to hide my birthday on the site, someone can search for “February” in Search All Fields and I pop up as a search result. Is there a way to filter results to either exclude certain sensitive fields by name?

    Or can the search reflect the field settings, so if it’s set to Only Me then it’s excluded, and if it’s set to Friends then it checks if the logged-in user is their friend before showing the result?

    Hi tinytiger,

    Unfortunately this feature is very difficult to implement in BuddyPress / BuddyBoss, and even the default BuddyPress member search ignores any field privacy settings.

    There is an open BuddyPress ticket here:

    but, as you can read in the discussion, the solution would be quite complex and there has been no progress for years.
