• Hi
I would like to exclude past events from the site search on https://www.visitpewseyvale.co.uk.
I do not have alot of technical expertise but can follow instructions. Although I have found a few posts which purport to resolve this issue, all they seem to do is to send you off on dozens of other trails without actually resolving anything. I’m afraid I lost the thread completely after delving off into different directions.

This seems to be a common request – would it be possible for you to give precise details of how to achieve this please?

    Many thanks
    Susie

    Hi Susie,

Have you tried the Settings > Event Organiser > General > ‘show past events’ option?

That should apply to event pages, including the event search.

However if this search is for non-event post types as well, that will not work as excluding past events will exclude non-event types. This is a known limitation which is being looked at.

    Hi Stephen
Thanks for getting back to me.

Checking or unchecking this box doesn’t make any difference to the search results.

The search is for anything on the site, not just events, so sounds as though it wouldn’t be a solution anyway.

This seems like quite a basic requirement – do you know when an update may be available?

    Many thanks

Ah, sorry – the site search doesn’t support date-based filtering/ordering, precisely because it encompasses multiple post types (not just events).

An ‘Event Search’ shortcode is a Pro feature, however: https://wp-event-organiser.com/pro-features/ (see also: https://docs.wp-event-organiser.com/shortcodes/event-search/)
