• Hello, how can I exclude certain images from webp generation so they are used by facebook via og:image?

Currently facebook doesn’t work with webp (verified via the facebook sharing debugger) so I have to exclude certain images from the transformation.

    Hello @hovenberg,

SiteGround Optimizer generates WebP copies of all images present in media library. There is no option to exclude certain images form the optimization. What I can suggest you as a work-around is to delete the WebP versions of the affected images.

    Hey @tsvetanm,

We issued a similar request over four months ago. You guys are “experts” at generating exclusion-type filters (i.e., code snippets). Why can ‘t you generate one for this purpose?

Manually deleting WebP images from the folder /wp-content/uploads/* is painful and counter-productive — which is what we’ve done for now (temporary solution).

Please reconsider creating a filter for this purpose. If other plugin developers can do it, so you can you, right? Here’s a perfect example on how to do it.

In our humble opinion, this topic is not “Resolved.”

And finally, would love to share this quote with you: “There’s no such thing as a problem that cannot be solved, only people incapable of solving it.”

    Hey @hovenberg,

It’s up to you, but if you’re not happy with SG’s answer, you can manually change this topic to “Not Resolved.” (change the drop-down located in the sidebar of this topic).

    Thank you!

Hey @generosus, I changed it to not resolved. I already saw your thread before.

My proposed solution would be an exclude functionality inside the media library, like it is for image compression. A checkbox “Skip Webp Generation” would be enough although a code filter would be sufficient too.

    Hey @hovenberg,

I like your proposed solution. Either one should work.

    Cheers ??

    Hello,

We submitted a new request to our developers to check if this feature can be added to SG-Optimiser.

We will update the thread once we have an update from them.
