Exclude highest product price from slider

I believe it’s not possible out of the box, but I think many users have this problem also. Let’s say we have 500 products in a range from €100,- to €1000,- and there are 1 or 2 items that cost over €6000,- then the range-distance will be huge between the lowest and the highest price, but squeezed into the small window (if used in the sidebar). This isn’t quite user-friendly and looks very strange.

I’m really not a developer, but it must be possible to split the values on the slider into parts. I.e. 80 | 100 | 120 | 140 | 160 | 320 | 640

Anyone who has an acceptable solution for this situation?
