Exclude Category not excluding

I love this terrific plug-in. I’m trying to exclude one category using the code that you showed in answer to another question, but it doesn’t seem to be taking effect. Instead of excluding the desired category (litkidz-blog), it acts as “IN” and only shows posts in that category. Here’s the complete shortcode:

[display-posts taxonomy=”category” tax_term=”litkidz-blog” tax_operator=”NOT IN” include_excerpt=”true” excerpt_length=”40″ image_size=”thumbnail” wrapper=”div” wrapper_class=”display-posts-listing image-left” pagination=”true” ]

I’ve removed the taxonomy code for now, as it doesn’t work for me to have it act that way. (using theme called Responsive by Cyber chimps.)

Thanks for any help. I admit to complete lack of knowledge…just copying your examples as best I can.
