• I have exchanged my own website completely for another. This was done by sheer accident and clumsiness on my part.

    I did this through following instructions and an example from here.

    What I had been trying to set up was another place where I could load all the responses from the Website.

    In the General / URL section, I changed and used one of the examples from here and entered that into the URL link.

    As soon as I activated this, I was taken to this other site. I can not get back to my own.

    I have sent email to both the site that I found myself in and to the Host for my Website here. There has been no come, as yet.

    Is there anyone who can help me rectify this problem? I would be most grateful for any help.

  • Do you have access to phpmyadmin?

    Sorry Mark, I had been waiting for a reply and never got notified.

    Where would I find this phpmyadmin and how is it used?. I don’t have my website anymore. I don’t know where I would go to retrieve this or what process I need to perform to get it back.

    How I got the site changed from what I had, to what I have now, was through changing the .net to .com as the example here showed me.

    Once I activated that, the site changed to what is there now.

    Thank you for this help. I am anxious to know if I can get me website back.

    If you go into your wp-config.php and add the following:

    define('WP_HOME','https://example.com');
    define('WP_SITEURL','https://example.com');

    You can change it back temporarily which will allow you to get back in to your site and fix it.

    Change example.com to whatever the real URL is of your website.

    Thank you John,

    John, before I do anything else. You write ” my wp-config.php ” Do I have that stored some where? Is it mine? Where would I go to get it?

    I have stuffed up enough now to worry about whether I will do any more damage. I want to get it right this time around.

    Thank you.

    Thomas.

    Where would I go to get it?

    It is in the same folder that you installed WordPress into on your server.
