    so i search for “enact” and although there are results
    i am seeing the whole post, wherein i thought i was to see excerpts
    which i could click to see the whole post.
    ( wasn’t that true previously?)
    i thought the plugin was to create the excerpts?
    new download, new activation, indexed pages and posts.

    Relevanssi indeed creates excerpts for the post if you set it up that way, but it’s up to your theme what gets displayed on the search results page. Your theme is currently set up to show whole posts, and Relevanssi has no control over that.

    So, if your theme has settings, check if there’s a setting to adjust what gets shown on the search results page, but if there’s no such setting, you need to modify the search results template. It’s currently likely using the_content(), which prints out the whole post, when it should be using the_excerpt(), which would print out the excerpt Relevanssi has created.
