    Hello

First of all, great little plugin.
My only problem with it is that I cannot seem to be able to view the excerpt.
I have created a Display View with Automatic Excerpt (also tried Manual) using Default (and also tried Custom) Length, activated the Read More link. And the Read More link is showing but the Content appears in full, no Excerpt.
I’m using a custom (child) version of the Storefront Deafult Theme.

    Can you help me?

    Thanks
    Mario

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

When you say “activated the Read More link”, are you referring to the ‘”Read more” link to a page or post’ option in the Extra section?

I ask because with the excerpt the Read More is automatically added; there is no setting to activate it.

Is it possible the testimonials are shorter than the excerpt length? Test the view with excerpt length of 5 words.

    Hi Chris
    Thanks for replying so soon.
I mean the “Read More” link that is activated automatically when selecting “automatic excerpt”. I just modified the link text.
And I purposefully inserted very long Lorem Ipsum content in the Testimonials to test it.
No matter what excerpt length I choose, it always shows the same amount, 376.

    Thanks
    Mario

    That’s odd.

    Are you caching?

I have to ask: Are you sure you’re looking at the same view that you’re editing?

Does it happen in the parent Storefront theme?

Regarding caching, I have made changes that are visible, changing the “Read More” link, and customizing the whole HTML, and it updated nicely.
I only have two views, one Form and one Display, so not much case for confusion there.
I have tried the Default Storefront Theme and the result is the same.

Seems strange but it’s my first WordPress project (although I have 20 years Web Developing under my belt) so I may be doing something wrong.

I have opened the site, so you can visit if you can.

It would be a great help.

    Thanks

Thanks for the link. I can’t quite work out the HTML but I think you’re using the shortcode incorrectly.

Please post a screenshot of that section in the page editor or copy and paste the textarea contents so I can understand the structure before it’s rendered.

Then, for testing, add [testimonial_view id=1] to a plain page to see if the excerpt and other features work properly.

There is a page for testing with both the form view and display view shortcodes, it appears like in the homepage, but you can check it out here: https://beautybynoor.com/acessos/testimonials/
And the code of that page is this:

    –form

    [testimonial_view id=2]

    — list

    [testimonial_view id=1]

Anyway I created a new test page with just the [testimonial_view id=1] shortcode : https://beautybynoor.com/test-testimonials/

I also uploaded a screenshot of the Edit page: https://beautybynoor.com/wp-content/uploads/Admin_Testimonials.png

Thanks a lot for your help

I am stumped. When I inspect the source, all the plugin divs are commented out and your testimonial-* divs are intertwined.

Any idea what could be doing that?

    Thread Starter mariosprt

    (@mariosprt)

Yes, about that. The Designer wanted to style the Testimonials to better match the remaining layout. So he made the HTML the way he wanted, and I applied it to the plugin. I commented your HTML to have as a reference, planning to delete it later.
I deleted it now, but it didn’t make a difference.

Changing HTML will break the slider, pagination and Masonry scripts.

Any template can be copied to your theme and customized:

Back to the excerpt, I count 55 words each on https://beautybynoor.com/test-testimonials/.

My bad, I was expecting 55 letters, not words! What an ass ??
    Sorry for wasting your time.
I understand that changing the containers will break some stuff, but in this case I won’t need those special features.
    Working great!!!
    Thanks so much!
