Excerpt length?

  • Is there a way to have an excerpt be for example 50 words on the category page when using the feed to post setting, but when on the post page, after clicking the article you have a longer excerpt? I tried doing a 500 word excerpt in wp-rss multi importer settings and then a 75 word excerpt in the blog settings, to no avail. All of my posts on my category page were 500 words long.

    The plugin just puts the feed items into blog posts. Your theme settings determine how much is shown on the category pages.

    That precisely the issue. Im feeding 500 words through this plugin and then have entered 75 words on the blog setting, but nonetheless 500 appear on the page. Is this a issue with my theme then?

    I’m not sure…right now, all the plugin does is post whatever is in the rss feed into a blog post (not the excerpt, but the content of the post – unless you choose to also put the contents into the excerpt – which is a checkbox in the plugin’s admin page). If you put something into the excerpt, that is outside what the plugin does.
