Excerpt Goes to "Page Not Found"
-
My email subscribers are getting “page not found” when they choose the “read more of this post” option.
I would appreciate your suggestions.

Anyone? I think it might have to do with permalinks, although with that phrase I’ve exhausted my knowledge of the subject.
I don’t want to start messing around with the permalinks (since I don’t know what I’m doing) unless I have to.
The other issue is that, after reading the home page posts, when a reader chooses “older posts” the page goes to white.
Can anyone point me in the general direction to solving either of these?
Many thanks.
Molly
https://www.themysticwave.comThe issue might indeed be caused by a permalink issue. I checked your Jetpack permalink settings, and they are set to
/%postname%/
. What is your site’s permalink structure, as found under Settings > Permalinks in your dashboard?I tried to use a different permalink structure to access some of your posts, and I was correctly redirected, so I’m not sure what’s wrong. Here is an example:
https://www.themysticwave.com/?p=1281Could you copy one of the links from one of your subscription emails, and paste it here?

This screen is called the White Screen of Death. You can find out which plugin or theme causes the problem by checking your server error logs. If you don’t know how to access them, your hosting provider should be able to help.
Thanks so much for your response.
The permalinks setting in the dashboard is set to “post name”:

Actually, when I clicked on one of the email “read more” links just now, I got another Page Not Found:
https://www.themysticwave.com/today-in-town-6/Grrr. So confusing and aggravating.
I’ll check the server error logs so see if I can figure out the plugin issue. I like that the name White Screen of Death. That’s exactly what it feels like!
Yay. Fixed the White Screen of Death. Now just need to solve that other mystery.
Something is still wrong with your site’s permalinks, it seems. I can’t access your site’s RSS feed at the moment:
https://www.themysticwave.com/feed/Could you try to deactivate all plugins that may have an effect on links / redirections / permalinks?
If that doesn’t help, could you try to switch to a different theme for a few minutes, and see if that helps?

Actually, when I clicked on one of the email “read more” links just now, I got another Page Not Found:
https://www.themysticwave.com/today-in-town-6/I can’t access this post on your site either; when clicking on the post title on your home page, I’m actually redirected to the home page.
And when trying to go to https://www.themysticwave.com/today-in-town-6/ , I see a 404 page. It might be caused by the dots in the post URL:
https://www.themysticwave.com/today-in-town-…/I do a friday photo called Today in Town … I wonder if the trouble there is that there are a few posts with the same name.
Changing themes? That seems very scary to me. Can I do that without losing everything?
I deactivated a bunch of plugins, but still couldn’t access the feed. I think I’m doing it willy-nilly, though.
I’m not sure which plugins affect the permalinks. Can you tell me which to deactivate?

Again, I appreciate your help on this.
Coud you try deactivating Advanced Permalinks and Better WP Security, and let me know if it changes anything when you publish your next post?
Will do.
I deactivated those two plugins and published a new post. How will i know if the problem was resolved?
How will i know if the problem was resolved?
Do all the links work in the notification email you received after publishing that post?
