Excerpt displays extra words, extra spaces before first word

    The problem I’m having is that some of the post excerpts are many words longer than what I’ve specified.

    I put 17 words for the excerpt in the shortcode, but some of the excerpts are displaying up to 21 words (example: Noureddin Saba’na), which then distorts the evenness of the two columns I have set up. Is there a way to fix this? If not, is there maybe a way to have the excerpt be determined by height or another factor that’s not word count?

    Additionally, some post excerpts are displaying a space before the beginning of the excerpt, even though there is nothing causing this in the code of the post itself. (example: Hadar Buchris)

    could you please give me a hint on how you solved the “extra space” problem?

    I am having an error “vice-versa”: with a missing first letter in only one post.

    Maybe there is a connection between these two?
