excerpt and sharing buttons

  • The first one that I created seemed to work perfectly and is located on the homepage. However, the subsequent ones that I have created include all of the like and sharing buttons in the preview box, which I don’t want. They’re located on these pages: https://tesolplanner.com/acceleration/ and https://tesolplanner.com/learner-resources-2/ I can’t figure out how to make them go away because everything about the setup is exactly the same as the first one I created that isn’t displaying them.

    Also, when I first set it up, they were displaying the excerpt that I created. However, I just published a new post titled “become an Expert Langauge Learner”, and it’s displaying the post text, not the excerpt.

    Hi there,

    Those social icons seem to be coming from a plugin – have you checked with their developer? Our excerpt uses the_excerpt() function, which is standard in WordPress.

    Does that post have an excerpt defined in the “Excerpt” metabox? If so, WPSP should display it. What happens if you disable your other plugins? Any change?

    Hi, thanks so much for your response. I was able to solve the excerpt problem. When I removed the read more line in the post, then the excerpt showed up.

    The social buttons are what I still can’t figure out. Do you mean that they’re coming from a different plugin or from the Show Post plugin? It’s strange that the social buttons aren’t showing on the homepage one, but they are showing on the other pages. I’m not sure what the difference is.

    Those social buttons are coming from another plugin? It could be something within the plugin which is showing it on some pages and not others.
