After today’s WP update, I tried to install Gutenberg.

    “Excellent work!”

Can not edit any page or post. I see only a white screen. And now on several sites!!!

I’m not the only one with the same problem. Do you really want to plug it into a core when it is impossible to open a post?

The only luck is that WordPress will not update itself on version 5…

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi there,
There is probably a conflict with a previously installed page builder or plugin.

The purpose of the Try Gutenberg prompt widen the user base such as yourself and see what compatibility issues come up. So your assistance in troubleshooting your – admittedly horrible experience – would help considerably in the effort to make Gutenberg better and prepare it for a possible merge proposal.

Maybe you got the time to assist us and track down the cause plugin?

Testing for conflicts is fairly simple, you just disable your plugins and use a default theme. There is a helper plugin, Health Check, with its Troubleshooting Mode

    Hi Birgit Pauli-Haack,
there is no page builder on the site. I’m trying to find an incompatible plugin, but I will not change it. When I have more time, I’ll write what plugin is.

On another site I came across another problem. I have 2 snippets created.

    Hi there,
So you are now able to create a post and edit it with Gutenberg, and do not have a conflict with a plugin?

That’s great. Would you mind marking the first issue as resolved and open a new topic with the new issue?

@vasikk2 While your old snippets may not work anymore, Gutenberg has a neat trick that you might want to know about: Reusable Blocks.

Instead of using copy/pasted HTML snippets, use the editor as it is to make your blocks. After you have the block looking the way you want it to look, click the three vertical dots in the upper right hand corner of the block to bring up a new menu. There, you will find “Add to Reusable Blocks”.

Give it a name, save it, and now you have a new pre-made block that you can select to insert at any time. No more need for snippets when you can just use the same block.
