• So over the past 6 months my site has been taken down about once every two weeks for exceeding resources on my server. My site is hosted by HostGator. I have really been trying to optimize my site so that I can stop this issue from happening. Here is where I am at:

    1,134 Posts
    5 Pages
    111 Categories
    824 Tags
    1400 Approved Comments

    Plugins:
    Akismet
    Category Description Editor
    Greg’s High Performance SEO
    HTML in Category Descriptions
    TDO Mini Forms
    uCan Post
    W3 Total Cache
    WP-reCAPTCHA

Traffic: About 12,000 Hits per Day

Other Info: Several of my Categories load all of the Posts (Title and Excerpt) at once. I may change this to just load like 20 posts, and then use pagination to get to the next posts.

Just recently I made my Sidebar Static so that it did not cause any load on the server (It used to request links per every category).

I also just cleaned out my WP Database (Got rid of all old Tables created by Plugins that are no longer being used).

Here is my latest Email from HostGator:

Another thing you will want to look at is your data bases; They are running and not closing the connection right away which causes high load on the server.

Take a look at the time any thing more than 30 Seconds ( the time is in seconds ) will cause issues. The best way is to keep it at zero here are the ones you should take a look at right away. But make sure to review all your data bases and

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Esmi thanks for the reply I’ll try these tips out. I am currently deleting more left over entries in my database in the wp-options table.
