Hi, beautiful people! Everytime I make a manual backup, my server exceeds the I/O Usage (see screenshot). I’ve read your troubleshooting docs (here) and I can’t find the option “Enable optimization mode for web hosting/ shared hosting”.

Considering my I/O Usage limit is 32 MB/s, which are the settings I’d need to apply to prevent my server from crashing and avoid being punished by them? I’d also like to chunk backup files into blocks of, say, 100MB, to avoid large backup files.

    Thank you!

    Hello @codimex ,

Frankly, the issue of insufficient server resources is beyond our control, upgrading your hosting plan to obtain additional server resources is the ultimate solution to address the problem of exceeding I/O Usage. Nonetheless, you may still modify the following WPivvid settings and proceed with running another backup task. Plus, note that the option to ‘Enable optimization mode for web hosting/shared hosting’ is no longer available.

    General settings:

    1. Uncheck the option of ‘Merge all the backup files into single package when a backup completes’

    Advanced settings:

    1. Database access method: PDO
    2. Compress method: PCLzip
    3. Compress files every: 80 MB
    4. Exclude the files which are larger than: 200MB
    5. PHP script execution timeout for backup: 300 seconds
    6. PHP memory limit for a backup task: 512MB
    7. The number of files compressed to the backup zip each time: 200
    8. Split a sql file every this size: 100 MB

    Kind regards.

Hi, thanks for your reply! Of course, I know you’re not in control of I/O usage in my server (“nobody” is), but the screenshot I attached shows a high peak in the moment I hit on the “Backup now” button. Let’s see if your settings provided can mitigate it a little. ??

Please keep this thread open a couple of days more until I come back with my feedback after applying your settings. In the meantime, thank you again!!!

    Hello @codimex ,

Sure, I’ll keep this thread open for a couple more days to await your feedback after applying the settings. Take your time, and thank you for using WPvivid!

Hi again, Nicholas. Your settings were successful, and the consumed resources actually decreased. They are now below the server usage limit. BUT for some reason, I got penalized again by my server host. It’s something I’m discussing with them at the moment.

I then reverted your settings to the default ones and tried a new backup. Please, see this attached image. The peak on the left is your suggested settings. The peak on the right is after reverting them to default. The cyan lines show the limit was reached, which doesn’t make sense to me in the case of the left peak.

I just have one more question, before marking this as resolved, since your answer works: could I migrate a website by uploading the files using your settings to another domain, as I usually do with the default settings? Will your restoring system automatically detect the difference in PDO, PCLzip, etc.?

    Thank you!!!

    Hello @codimex

We are glad that our suggestions helps.

During a restore process, the plugin does not replace it’s settings.

If you’d like use the plugin settings of site A on site B, you can export the settings from the plugin Settings page of site A and import it to site B, see this screenshot.

    All the best,
